Bridging Gaps for a Nourished Future

Enhancing Food Access Across Atlantic Canada

Joining Bridges Inc. works to strengthen and connect existing social, cultural, financial, and distribution supports so that all Atlantic Canadians have ongoing access to sufficient, healthy, and culturally appropriate food.

We focus on bridging gaps, supporting long-term initiatives, and enhancing the systems already in place.

About Us

We Strengthen Pathways of Support

Joining Bridges Inc. is a purpose-driven organization committed to reinforcing food support systems across Atlantic Canada.

Our work is grounded in collaboration rather than duplication. We work alongside food aid centres, suppliers, and individuals with lived and professional knowledge to help close gaps in access while respecting and strengthening existing structures. This approach recognizes that food security is closely linked with other foundational needs, including stable and affordable housing.

The name Joining Bridges reflects our belief that lasting impact comes from enhancing the pathways already serving communities and helping them work together more effectively.

Our Mission

Bridging Existing Systems to Better Serve Communities

Our mission is to help ensure that all Atlantic Canadians have ongoing access to sufficient, healthy, and culturally appropriate food.

We pursue this mission by supporting long-term, systems-based initiatives that enhance sustainable food access and affordable housing initiatives, rather than short term responses. Our role is to coordinate, strengthen, and support existing networks so resources reach the right places at the right time without disruption or unintended consequences.

Regions We Focus on

Addressing Challenges in Atlantic Canada

Our home base is in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and our work is rooted in Atlantic Canada.

Atlantic Canada faces unique challenges in food security, with higher rates of food insecurity compared to other regions. Our focus on this area allows us to address these issues directly, leveraging local knowledge and partnerships. By concentrating our efforts here, we can better understand the specific needs of communities, ensuring that our initiatives are both relevant and impactful.

This regional focus enables us to work closely with local stakeholders, fostering a collaborative approach that is essential for sustainable change.

Collaborative Partnerships

Working Together to Create Lasting Impact

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Joining Bridges Inc. thrives on the strength of its partnerships. We work alongside a diverse array of organizations, suppliers, and individuals who share our vision for a food-secure Atlantic Canada. These partnerships are crucial for expanding our reach and effectiveness, allowing us to pool resources and expertise. By fostering strong relationships with those who have both lived and professional experience, we ensure that our strategies are informed, inclusive, and sustainable. Together, we are building a network that supports lasting change and community resilience.

Why is Joining Bridges Inc. focused on Atlantic Canada?

Our home base is in New Brunswick and statistics show that the greatest need in Canada is among Atlantic Canadians.

Why work through food aid centres?

Food banks know the needs of communities and share these with centralized centres, who then arrange for shipments of food.  By providing these centres with deliveries, they are then able to direct shipments where they are needed the most and can be received and stored appropriately.

Why provide food and preparation equipment instead of funding?

Our mandate favours the donation of ongoing goods instead of funds. Also, the donation of funds could impact other sources of funding currently being provided and generated and we want to preserve other current and future sources of funds.

How is Joining Bridges Inc. funded?

We are funded by non-governmental, anonymous grants by philanthropic organizations worldwide.
